10 Reasons Why The PS4 DOMINATED This Console Generation
4. PlayStation Now
With the rise of subscription services becoming available for various different forms of entertainment, it was only a matter of time before it was available in some capacity to gamers. This has taken the form of PlayStation Now with Sony and Xbox Game Pass with Microsoft.
During the last console generation, Xbox Live was at the core of the multiplayer gaming community, while Sony were trying to fix the major issues surrounding the PlayStation 3. This meant that PlayStation Plus was always going to be playing catch up. It also did not help that Xbox Live has historically been more consistent than all of PlayStation’s online services.
But with PlayStation Now, Sony were able to convince gamers to sign up to stream old and new games. Despite Xbox Game Pass being introduced first, PlayStation Now has proven that it is more than capable of competing with Microsoft’s own subscription service.
This high number of subscribers is likely to stay with PlayStation Now as they improve their live streaming services for the next console generation, as both Sony and Xbox have acknowledged live stream gaming is now an integral part of gaming culture.
