10 Reasons Why We Need A Resident Evil CODE: Veronica Remake

7. New interpretation of Albert Wesker

A major draw for a CODE: Veronica remake would be for the opportunity to have Albert Wesker return to the series. Other than Umbrella itself, Wesker was the closest thing the series had to an overarching villain until Chris Redfield yeeted him into a volcano during the climax of Resident Evil 5.

CODE: Veronica - particularly in the CODE: Veronica X re-release which added extra scenes - gave Wesker the most screen time in the series, other than in RE5.

Wesker in many ways was the poster boy for Resident Evil’s expanding lore and the excess which latter entries became known for.

Wesker was a schemer and had a hand in almost all the events which led to the early T-Virus outbreaks, and his influence increased after his own transformation into a bioweapon, which gave him all the upsides of the T-Virus without any of the downsides.

Wesker would prove something of a challenge for a remake regarding what direction they’d take him; the character was always popular with fans, but he was never scary. Wesker featured solely in CODE: Veronica’s cutscenes, so perhaps for the remake, they could have him pursue the player through certain areas like Mr. X or Nemesis. This would be an elegant way of showing the player what a significant threat Wesker is.
