10 Reasons You Should Play This Generation's Worst Video Games

3. Evolve

Battlefront 2 Dooku
2K

Evolve is the only entry on our list which can only be referred to in the past tense. As in, a game you should have played. Unfortunately, the Evolve servers are no longer live and the only way to play is through peer-to-peer means, which is a pain.

Evolve is a unique beast, being the first triple-A endeavour into the Predator vs. Prey dynamic of multiplayer games. It has since been reworked and tweaked through the likes of Friday the 13th, Last Year and most successfully, Dead by Daylight. Still, it was Evolve who proved there was a potential in the market, albeit, a potential the devs could not capitalise on.

Although there may not have been a market for it back then, we now know that, given the right circumstances, a monster, some kind of hunter or villainous figure from horror history vs. a set of survivors is a very appealing game concept. The issue was that Turtle Rock Studios were raiding uncharted territory. The UI was clunky, the gameplay had a lot of dead air and the matchmaking would end up being quite wonky, hence, the dying player-base.

I can’t recommend you play Evolve, what I can do, though, is point you to Dead by Daylight. At least there you’ll know the developers are actively and constantly working on the game.
