10 Reasons Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is STILL The Best Game Of The Generation
6. Difficulty
For anyone who hasn’t played the game yet, this may be the most important thing to know about Breath of the Wild before you start, and for anyone who has played it, you know exactly what I’m talking about. This game is full of punishing systems so that if you choose to fight on the edge of a mountain or go into a long battle with a weapon on low durability, or even don’t keep track of your stamina bar, be prepared to die – a lot.
The amount of enemies that can one-shot you is numerous and even the weakest enemies will kill you early-game if they get a few hits on you. Even in the later game, be prepared to encounter foes who you’ll only be able to defeat by playing tactically, forcing you to position yourself perfectly, think outside the box and avoid getting hit as if you were playing a FromSoftware game.
In the spirit of that comparison, it’s safe to say this can be incredibly like a Dark Souls game at times and you may have to repeat the same fight or bit of exploration a dozen times before claiming victory. Gone is the over-simplified tutorial and over-explained mechanics and in its place is a truly difficult game which gives old school Zelda fans something they’ve wanted for years.
