In the wake of the immensely popular Overwatch, creator Cliff Bleszinski worked on his own arena shooter with a development team at Boss Key Productions known as LawBreakers. An attempt to break into the multiplayer shooter market with their own take.

LawBreakers functioned fairly well and was actually fairly well liked by its player base and critics. Much of this was due to the saturation of multiplayer games on the PC at that time, with the immensely popular PUBG soaking up most of the player bases. Alongside this was the notable similarities to Overwatch which didn't go unnoticed by many.

Upon release, LawBreakers failed to even make it into Steam's top 100 most played games. Previously, betas for the game only saw a peak of around 7,500 players, which signalled trouble for LawBreakers in its early stages.

Not long after the games release, it was announced it would be going free-to-play, noting that the game would be shutting down its servers a little later. By September, the game was closed and forgotten about. LawBreakers is a testament of a game obscured by juggernauts of its genre.
