8. Fallout 76
When Fallout 76 was announced many fans exploded with excitement. The idea of Bethesda taking one of their many beloved franchises -- in the same vein as classics such as The Elder Scrolls -- but making it into a completely online experience seemed an ideal win.
Early trailers promised a open-world apocalypse to explore with friends, taking all the elements that made the series so adored to that point and placing them neatly into one giant package.
Then the release came.
What players found was a barren, desolate wasteland with none of the charm, personality or life that was infused into the franchise up until that point.
Gone were NPC's, inventive quests, an interesting world to explore and even the graphics themselves even took a dive. Despite building a strong engine with Fallout 4, left here was an empty shell of a fantastic franchise.
Fans and critics were quick to express their disgust, with the player base dropping quickly and critical reception being poor. Bethesda have made note of the mistakes with Fallout 76 and plan to right those wrongs, but will it be all too late?
