7. Alone In The Dark

There probably weren't many folk genuinely expecting great things from the new Alone in the Dark reimagining, but with Hollywood stars Jodie Comer and David Harbour involved, there presumably had to be something interesting, right?

And that really depends who you ask. Despite scoring wildly mixed reviews from critics, this game has some extremely passionate defenders, who see it as a loving homage to the series' sunnier past, right down to its emphasis on puzzle-driven gameplay, making this arguably the second-best entry into the entire franchise.

But let's be clear - given the utter tawdry state of Alone in the Dark as a series, the bar is in hell.

And for even some long-time fans, this new entry didn't quite cut it, with the janky gameplay - namely the wretched combat - too often undercutting the spirited attempts to muster a thick atmosphere.

Given that it flopped commercially, it likely won't see a sequel regardless of what you thought of it.
