The Expanse: A Telltale Series marked the first new episodic project from Telltale Games in many years, and so expectations were high that this promising prequel to the incredible Amazon sci-fi series would deliver the goods.

On one hand, there's been a lot of appreciation for Telltale's love letter to The Expanse, from all the visual detail of its world to its fleshing-out of Drummer's backstory, and of course, the outstanding central performance from Cara Gee in the lead role.

But on the other, gameplay-wise this has been embraced less-warmly, given the reliance on dull mission objectives and puddle-deep puzzles, all while the entire five-episode series can be easily beaten in under four hours.

For everyone who found it to be a welcome addition to the Expanse canon, there was someone left totally unimpressed by what was basically Just Another Telltale Game, packed with gameplay so unambitious as to incite genuine boredom.
