Resident Evil 2 Remake set the bar with its faithful yet innovative take on the original. As a result, fans expected the follow-up to be just as deep. Though it didn't match its 1999 version, RE3 Remake was a ton of fun.

And yet, the survivor horror threequel received an unprovoked level of animosity. One beef many had was the brevity of the main campaign. But the 1999 game wasn't long either, so this should've been expected.

RE3 Remake also rubbed the masses the wrong way since it removed key locations, bosses, and the live-choice system. Though this complaint is valid, it overlooks the fact the remake expanded on every sequence from the original, and threw in a whole batch of new content.

Nemesis was perceived as a copycat of RE2's Mr X, which is unfair since the uber-zombie is far faster and more efficient at blocking the hero's path. He's also much scarier, since he has a knack for appearing when you least expect it, such as during the prologue or when he trashes the typewriter room, making it impossible to save your progress.

While several negative assessments were understandable, the backlash was unjust.
