10 Recent Video Games We Were Way Too Harsh On

5. Wuthering Waves

Star Wars Outlaws
Kuro Games

Kuro Games went all in with Wuthering Waves, blending elements from Death Stranding, Pokemon, Punishing: Gray Raven, and Genshin Impact. Even though it sounds impossible to juggle so many genres and mechanics, the promotions for this anime-oriented RPG got everyone buzzing. In fact, the hype was so high, Wuthering Waves had 30 million pre-registered users gearing for the anticipated launch.

Sadly, the debut was let down by animation errors, janky character movements, performance problems, and crashes. (And that's if you could access the free-to-play open-worlder in the first place.)

But Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man Sky proved any game can recover from a disastrous launch. So, when Wuthering Waves got patched up, it should've got back on track.

Somehow, the patch made everything worse, erasing all the game's audio. (How did the developers not doublecheck that?)

After Kuro Games screwed up twice, the majority bailed and never looked back. This is a pity since Wuthering Waves found its stride when the NEXT patch was implemented, but the wounds were too deep for some, which is why many players refuse to give it a third chance.

With Wuthering Waves being ported to the PS5 and PCs in 2025, let's hope the unappreciated gem finally gets some love.
