10 Regular Enemies That Look Intimidating But Are Actually A Bit Rubbish

9. Shuggurath - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Pre-Sequel’s enemies are, for the most part, typical Borderlands fare: bile-spitting insectoids, dog-like melee types and the ever-popular gun-toting scavs. But Shugguraths are different, bizarre Eldritch-looking abominations that bring to mind dark memories of Cthulhu. That bizarre appearance suggested bizarre attacks, and the large size suggested those attacks would hurt.

Instead, Shugguraths are comically ineffective. Easily outpaced on foot and inaccurate at anything but close range, a sniper rifle can be used to comfortably pick them off with a minimum of dodging. Even at close range their damage output is relatively benign, allowing two or more to be engaged with only a bit of sharp footwork. Those smaller enemies spawned by certain Shuggurath are weak enough that a few bullets kill them, making them an exercise in patience rather than a challenge.

Despite being more than a bit useless, when taken together with Pre-Sequel’s particular brand of irreverent humour, the goggling old gasbags are at the very least worth a laugh, which is more than can be said for the final entry.
