10 Regular Enemies That Look Intimidating But Are Actually A Bit Rubbish

5. Revenant - Resident Evil: Revelations 2

A twisted, mutilated corpse pierced through with spikes and wielding blades welded to rotting flesh, the Revenant is one of Revelation 2’s most distinctive, and unsettling, enemies. Add the ability to regenerate and it promised to be one of the fiercest.

But it never got the chance, because the game neutered it with a fatal Achilles’ heel.

As Barry, the player stealthily sneaks up behind a Revenant and fells it with a single hit. For those less patient, the game offers Natalia, Barry’s companion, who can use her special ability to identify the Revenant’s obligatory orange weak spot (this is Resident Evil after all). Follow up with a few shots from Barry’s powerful weapons and you’re swiftly moving on. Even without either advantage, simply peppering the Revenant’s body will reveal the weak spot, leading to a quick kill for those with a steady hand.

Using stealth to defeat a Resident Evil monster is a welcome change, but in a game that looks back to the more resilient zombies of the earlier titles the Revenant is something of a lame duck, a real pity considering what it could have been.
