10 Regular Enemies That Look Intimidating But Are Actually A Bit Rubbish

Skyrim was sold on the promise of fighting dragons. More than the spectacular landscape, the introduction of powerful shouts, and the intriguing legend of the Dragonborn, it was the prospect of facing these mythical beasts that stoked anticipation to fever pitch.

Then came the first chance to engage one in battle, and something strange happened... we didn’t die. In fact, we barely took a scratch. Though it took a fair few arrows, blows or spells to bring the monster down, it was with a suspicious lack of challenge that the overgrown lizard ended up burning down to the bones in front of us.

The trend continued. Dragon after dragon was fought and as simply dealt with. As the novelty wore off it became clear that the ‘mighty’ dragon was little more than a damage sponge. Encounters swiftly became less a spectacle and more a nuisance, something to be avoided not because it was dangerous... but because it was tedious. It was like dealing with Oblivion Gates all over again.

While legendary dragons are anything but easy, their regular brethren did not live up to the promise; even Alduin, the world-eater himself, went down with a disappointingly brief struggle. Small wonder that modders turned them into ponies.
