10 Resident Evil Games - Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Resident Evil: Revelations
After numerous failed attempts to recapture the spirit
of the series, Resident Evil: Revelations managed to achieve a modicum of
success. It wasn’t perfect, and it couldn’t really be described as a return to
form, but it was certainly a vast improvement on Resident Evil 5. For one
thing: it was genuinely frightening at times, maintaining a tense, unnerving
atmosphere, and simultaneously emphasising tight, claustrophobic environments.
In the game, players take on the role of Jill Valentine, a counter-terrorist agent tasked with preventing a bioterrorist organisation from infecting the world’s oceans. Assisted by a handful of supporting characters, including Chris Redfield, Jill must contain the threat, prevent the T-Abyss Virus from spreading across the globe, and escape with her life.
Originally released exclusively on Nintendo 3DS in 2012, and later ported to the PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii U, Revelations was a huge success, both critically and commercially. Though it was limited by the hardware available, the game managed to do some interesting things, and will be remembered fondly as a result. The boss battle with the Communications Officer was a particular delight, and still haunts me to this day.
