There's so much to love here and so much to hate.

This was a big step forward in terms of graphics for the franchise, attempting to do fully 3D environments, albeit while still using the fixed camera perspective for most of it.

Finally the Redfield siblings were together, at last, so it's a shame that, as per usual, the story remained useless. There's a little more background info surrounding the sinister Umbrella company and it's suitably campy. As expected, the atmosphere was still daunting and oppressive, aided by the eerie prison island setting with the usual laboratories and big posh houses. Plus, some less than subtle references to Psycho.

The new monsters, like the Bandersnatch, stand out as pretty good additions and would definitely benefit from the new tech to allow them to stalk and leap across the levels.

However, there are some really atrocious road blocks throughout the game; if you don't mange your ammo and items carefully enough, you might have to restart from a previous checkpoint.

Plus, there was Steve... sigh. He could definitely use a rewrite, which is a shame, even though his story is pretty tragic, he just likes creeping on Claire too much! Stop creeping, Steve!
