Throughout that seemingly never ending barrage of scenes in the Metal Gear Solid 4 ending Otacon mentions that Snake had a hard life. As someone who has followed the legacy from the beginning, trust me, theres no better way to summarise the trials and tribulations of gamings most iconic stealth soldier. Its also revealed that Snakes days are limited due to the virus, accelerated ageing, and nano-machines. Point being is this; Solid Snake is a hero that has earned the right to live out his remaining years in peace, not battling on the front lines of more pointless wars and bloodshed. So please Kojima, continue making games related around Big Boss if you want to keep Metal Gear going. The ending to Solid Snake is absolutely perfect as is to the point where most wouldnt change it for the world, so let an old legend rest!
