One of Marvel's most popular Knights, Frank Castle has seldom got the gaming treatment. It's been 11 years since his last solo outing in 2009 for the PS3, but 16 years before that we got an arcade classic in 1993's The Punisher.

Initially an arcade game (when wasn't it in the nineties?) this game is significant because it marked Marvel's first collaboration with Capcom - and what a beautiful partnership it has been since.

Crafted in the same vein as Final Fight, this game was a side-scrolling beat 'em up that allowed you to do just that, beat fools up. Playing as The Punisher, the game leads you on a path to facing off against both Jigsaw and Kingpin looking for revenge for the murder of your family.

If you played in two player, you were even able to play as a classic Nick Fury. Despite its success as an arcade game though, the port to the Mega Drive was poor in comparison.
