10 Ridiculous Adult Jokes Hidden In Video Games

4. The Female Body (Kirby's Dream Land 2)

Kirby's Dream Land 2 Level 5-5
Nintendo

The Kirby games are among the most cheery and delightful titles on the planet, which is fitting, considering that the title character is a tiny pink ball with huge anime eyes. It would be weird if everything was dark and miserable.

In Kirby's Dream Land 2, you control the title character through a series of side-scrolling levels, and for such an unassuming game, it provides a decent enough challenge. It also provides some curious level design, with players noticing that the layout of the 5-5 secret stage bears a strong resemblance to something that should definitely not be in a kids game.

Upon dropping through the level, there are a series of pink, square platforms that you can stand on: the top ones look like eyes, the second ones look like a mouth, and the third... well, you get the idea. Just work your way down.

The funny thing about this is that you can't actually see the full picture while you're playing the level, due to the zoomed-in camera angle. If you didn't know about this first, you'd just think you were dropping onto some ordinary platforms.

Very crafty indeed.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
