Cows are a pretty common sight in Dungeons and Dragon. You’ve probably reclaimed them for a farmer, found a mage polymorphed into one, and your druid has probably even interrogated a few. So how could they be considered strange? Well, the Denizens of hell have to eat too. Down there they have the charmingly named Stench Kow.

These odd creatures, that are found in the lower planes of Hell, are not dissimilar to normal cows. Generally, they do look the same, there are some differences in colour and size though. They have orange and brown skin with green mottling. They can also weigh up to 3,000 pounds.

Usually found in herds wandering the wasteland, these bovines are no pushover. While they will not attack unless provoked, they are highly protective of their calves. They can cause a lot of damage with their horns, doing double damage if they charge you. Did I also mention they’re resistant to cold, fire and poison, yes, they’re pretty strong cattle?

It still feels strange that the inhabitants of hell keep cows, ones with grotesque faces but still cows.
