7. Luigi Exists

L is real Many of us know the Super Mario franchise and rightly so due to the little man himself providing gamers countless hours of fun over the years, but this rumour was one that suggested we look away from Mario and to his brother, Luigi (The brother who gets far less screen time). Any who, this was a rumour that caused its fair share of heated debates online and had many fans around the world puzzled to see if there was any truth to it because it meant that we could all use somebody else other than "this guy" again. The rumour itself is that in Super Mario 64 there was a single statue (as seen above) and when you swim up close, it is rumoured that on the plaque, the message says "L Is Real - 2401". This cannot be confirmed in any way as it is simply far too pixelated to comprehend a single letter, let alone a complete phrase. However, it convinced gamers around the world that Luigi was a playable character in the game and it led to gamers doing everything in their power to make it so by spending countless hours completing the game 100% and then taking to the internet to find out how exactly it was done. This unfortunately, was not the case and was just yet another myth dawned via the virtual world and left thousands of gamers (and probably Luigi himself) extremely disappointed as at that time, Luigi was a mainly sidelined character at this point having only 1 real primary role in a game, that being in "Mario Is Missing".
