5. "I'm Telling You, Mew Is Under That Truck!"
This was one of the biggest rumours around and had every single person playing enthralled in figuring out how to obtain the illusive Pokemon, Mew. Being the hidden 151st Pokemon in the Pokedex was simply a whisper upon release, that being until Mew was revealed during a Pokemon tournament in Japan in which the winner was rewarded with being the first ever player to own Mew. Many don't really know this, but at this time, Pokemon hadn't really blown up globally and it was this very mascot which took the world by storm and made sales sky rocket. As of this, rumours started to float suggesting that Mew had to be in the game and that there was a method of finding the rarest of all Pokemon to appear. The rumour was, that if you did a glitch near the S.S.Anne ship and turn your Game Boy on/off, the game would load a step further so you was able to surf to this part of land. As you can see, the land has a truck parked upon it and the rumour some wise guy started was that Mew was hiding under this very truck and eventually, if you spent long enough searching around on that land, Mew would appear. This turn out to be complete baloney and the true way to obtain Mew was eventually leaked by somebody who worked within the development team, this involving battling an old man, flying elsewhere, returning to Lavender Town and when you enter the route again, Mew appears before your very eyes. A testimonial moment for any child or myself around 4 months ago.
