Of all the Pokémon we knew about back in the Generation I days, Mew was by far the most elusive and sought-after. With Mewtwo freely available to be caught as part of the main story, it only made sense that the original creature he was based off would be hidden away somewhere. One of the most persistent rumours regarding Mew, was that he could be found underneath a strangely positioned truck parked near the S.S. Anne ship. In order to get there, youd need to play through the game in a very limited fashion, skipping certain badges and events in order to gain the Surf ability before sailing away on the S.S Anne. Pokémon players hearts skipped a beat across the world after they actually found the mystical truck that theyd worked so long to find. All they needed now was to use Strength on the truck and nothing. Turns out it was a hoax all along, and the truck was there for decoration only. Years later, players discovered that there was a way of capturing Mew in-game, using a dull series of menu tricks and flying to specific locations. What other Pokemon rumours do you remember?
