10 Ridiculous Story Decisions That Ruined Great Video Games

1. The Whole Game Was A Simulation - Metal Gear Solid 2

MGS2c Indeed, Metal Gear Solid 2 is a game not content to merely p*ss us off once, but at its conclusion, it reveals another sleight of hand that well and truly seals the deal. Slowly, dialogues centered around simulation and VR missions begin to crowd your codec dialogues, and then the Colonel appears to "glitch", with his face turning into a skull and uttering totally ridiculous phrases like, "I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!" It eventually transpires that the Colonel we're talking to is, in fact, a computer AI, and the Big Shell has been a test for Raiden, causing some fans to wonder if Raiden even existed at all. Oh, and then there's another mind-blower just to confuse fans even more; the Patriots have been for over 100 years. Though Hideo Kojima did later realise that, indeed, we needed some damn explanation, MGS2, in spite of its awesome boss battles, seemed a little too pretentious and messy for its own good.
