10 Risky Changes That Would Make Assassin's Creed Great Again
9. Ditch The Modern Day Storyline
Playing the first Assassin’s Creed and being flung into a modern story set in a stunning white laboratory was a surprise inclusion nobody saw coming. It was an interesting dynamic, a welcome inclusion, and it broke up Altair's assassin gameplay quite well.
However, as the games continued, it lost focus, slowly becoming a necessary inclusion that was ultimately dull and boring.
Not to mention the fact that it lost itself entirely after the ending of Assassin’s Creed III, opting to go with first-person hacking puzzles instead of a coherent narrative. By the time Unity and Syndicate rolled around it was resigned to menus and cutscenes - kind of phoned in, to say the least.
So get rid of it. It’s a bold move that would remove the weakest parts of the game, and true, it is considered an integral part of Assassin’s Creed as a franchise, but until Ubisoft can decide what they actually want to do with this modern day component, at least remove it entirely for one game.
