2. Making It About Stealth
There are nine major titles in the Assassin’s Creed series, and each one doesn’t stray far from the usual gameplay outline. That’s fine. It’s a proven core concept that the series has tweaked and perfected through its time and has influenced and number of other game series with its design.
But does it fit an assassin?
Overhauling the entire system to gear towards a more stealthy approach could be what saves the series. Making stealth the focal mechanic instead of the combat is the key to an 'assassin' game, surely?
Have serious repercussions to getting caught and have weapons and tools that cater towards going undetected, instead of being able to get out of a situation.
The combat is as refined as its ever going to be, and the currently implemented stealth mechanics are all put there around said melee combat. It should be the other way around. Assassin's Creed should inherently be about stealth, simple as.
