Developer: Atlus Platform: PlayStation 2 The premise: Persona 3 might be one of the most popular JRPGs here in the west, but that doesn't mean the whole thing isn't incredibly weird. The game follows a group of high-school students who investigate a time period that most people aren't aware of, in which things called Shadows feed on human's minds. It gets weirder: It's a weird premise by itself, but that's to say nothing of the specifics in the game. One of the main gameplay mechanics during battles is the ability for characters to summon Personas, which are a manifestation of the person's inner consciousness. In order to summon these Personas, the person must fire a gun directly at their own head. Well, technically it's a gun-like object called in 'Evoker,' but the imagery is still incredibly unsettling. Adding to the weirdness, there's the ability to attend classes, make friends and form romantic relationships, all against the backdrop of a potentially world-ending demonic invasion.
