10 Most Ruthless Serial Killers In Video Games

2. Origami Killer - Heavy Rain

Spoilers for the ending of Heavy Rain. Love it or hate it, playing through David Cage's oft-debated masterpiece is an experience that'll stick with you. Sure it might be for the occasionally-hilarious voice acting, but more than likely it'll be because you either loved or hated the final revelation that playable do-gooder Scott Shelby was the killer all along. Some people found such an obvious about-face rug-pull to be too 'easy' of a way out, whilst others simply loved it, but in a medium where we're pretty starved of adult-themed detective games, Heavy Rain's serial killer was a truly twisted and celebration-deserving creation regardless of what form he finally took. By abducting his victims at a certain time of year when the city was engulfed in heavy rainfall, his victims were always placed in such a position underground that the ever-mounting buildup slowly drowned them - which yes is a really awful way to go, but damn if it there isn't a touch of genius in there too. If there's one thing better than the whole cat n' mouse serial killer chase, it's finding out some incredible answers as to why the evidence baffled you in the first place, and Shelby's true motivation as this father-testing rain-weaponising killer was - for our money - fantastic.
