10 Scariest Areas In Dark & Demon's Souls History
7. Dark Souls 2 - Undead Crypt
It just wouldn’t be a Dark Souls game without an obligatory crypt area. In Dark Souls 2, players will have the misfortune of trudging their way through the Undead Crypt straight after they battle their way through the Shrine of Amana deep below Drangleic Castle.
The place where undead souls are finally laid to rest, the crypts are crawling with restless souls eager for you to join their ranks. Likewise, necromancers and sneaky traps make traversing this area more perilous, with the sneakiest of all being shrines that will summon powerful enemies if their bells are struck – which they will – either accidentally by yourself or by an enemy.
And if that doesn’t sound bad enough, you’re encouraged to complete this area in all but complete darkness as producing any light will invoke the wrath of an NPC who’ll swiftly punish you for your insolence.
Make it through all of this and you’ll be faced with a long gauntlet of powerful enemies just to get to the mighty boss Velstadt, who stands between you and the former king Vendrick.
Slowly pacing his tomb in a circle, dragging his massive sword behind him, seeing Vendrick for the first time is an intimidating sight.
