10 Scariest Enemies In Non-Horror Games
5. The Daharka - Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Prince of Persia fans may be used to having something of a safety net. While the games revel in spike pits, spinning blades, tricky jumps and other performing hazards seemingly determined to lacerate your royal rump, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time gives you a secret weapon: The limited ability to rewind time, thereby trying sections again.
As the Back to the Future series teaches us, though, nobody messes with time without consequences. In the Prince of Persia series, these consequences take the following form: A hideous beast will appear in the sequel and trample you into a sad, princely speck on the temple floor.
In Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, an iconically dark and edgy follow-up, the Daharka is introduced. With the Prince having defied death (canonically and then numerous times as a result of the time-rewinding shenanigans), the towering Daharka arrives to make sure he meets that death. You’ll encounter it across the Fortress of Time, barrelling after you through scripted sequences like the Nemesis in Resident Evil 3.
This thing is imposing enough just to look at, but the ghastly aura it leaves in its wake and the sheer fact that the Prince (who spends much of the game acrobatically cutting a bloody swathe through all manner of foes) can’t even harm it at all and can only flee makes it all the more frightful. It can be defeated using the Water Sword, however.
