10 Scariest Levels In Non-Horror Video Games

5. Batman: Arkham Asylum - The Morgue

Detroit Become Human
Rocksteady

Horror in the Batman mythos is nothing new, especially not to fans of the established works. The movies and comics have dealt with a range of dark and terrible things, with recurring villains and even Batman himself using fear as a weapon.

Yet it was 2009's first entry from Rocksteady that raised the bar by making it interactive, as we had to navigate an unpleasant area in the world of the Dark Knight.

I'm not talking about the morgue in Arkham Asylum here, although that isn't fun either. I mean Batman's psyche, as he has some fear-induced hallucinations brought on by the Scarecrow.

Whilst the latter part of these sections turned into generic action pieces, the initially blast of past gas makes Bruce experience horrific visions of his parents in body bags. It was genuinely unnerving, as the Scarecrow works his way around behind the scenes to put us on edge.

Considering the game had predominantly been about Batman kicking ass and solving puzzles, the "dead parent" shift caught many off guard.

Yes, we all know that that's Batman's drive, but to have your dead father blame you for their murder, that's horrific.
