10 Secret Open-World Bosses Everyone Missed

2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was Hylian hero Link’s first 3D open-world experience, and its nonlinear structure greatly expanded the scope and freedom of the series.

Its gargantuan overworld adversaries are a huge part of the appeal, especially when they’re highly elusive and require Link to have special knowledge and considerable patience to run into them.

Take, for example, Malice Naydra, who can only be found after unlocking the Spring of Wisdom shrine quest from Medda in Hateno Village during the daytime. Not only that, but the shrine is atop the freezing and obscured Mount Lanayru (ensuring that countless seekers will be unable to find it and survive the trek).

Players who attempt it should do so with at least a handful of arrows, as Link must shoot several eyeballs above Naydra’s head as it flies to different places. After being freed from Malice, Naydra drops Naydra’s Scale and eventually unearths the Jitan Sa’mi shrine.

Link is able to go directly to Malice Naydra without talking to Medda, but he won’t be able to complete the quest (so he might as well chat with her beforehand to get the most out of the adventure).
