Most Skyrim players would agree that the Molag Bal quest, "House of Horrors," is one of the darkest missions in the game. It basically forces you to become a villain, taking the lives of good and innocent people, and once you start it, you're stuck commiting atrocities as you have no way of refusing the will of the Deadric Prince of Domination.

Starting the quest can be the most frustrating thing for people who are doing a good playthrough, but if you accidentally triggered it, don't worry, as there is a secret way to finish the quest on a more positive note.

You just have to mess it up.

Despite what Molag Bal tells you, you don't actually have to obey him. In the final part of the quest, when you have to torture a priest called Logrolf the Willful for him, you can just kill him right away, which will ultimately fail the quest, but allow you to refuse Molag Bal and not participate in his sick and twisted games.

Sure, you don't get the fancy Deadric mace as a reward, but on the other hand, you do get to preserve your conscience and not become a puppet of an evil Deadra.

Besides, let's be real, Molag Bal's mace is pretty lame.
