10 Sequel-Proof Video Game Endings (That Got Sequels Anyway)

7. Uncharted 4

Yakuza 6
Naughty Dog

This and one other entry do admittedly skirt the line between sequel and spinoff, but the way your writer personally sees it, that line isn't as set as people think. So long as the spinoff takes place after the game in question, and is considered canon, there's no reason it cannot be both.

Uncharted 4 was Naughty Dog closing the curtain on a franchise that had defined their creative direction long before even The Last of Us. Bringing an end to the story of Nathan Drake as he goes on one last adventure, the story even ends on a time skip, as Nathan and Elena's daughter discovers her parents' past to play us out. A genuinely perfect ending to a franchise that wasn't always the best when it came to heartfelt character writing.

And then The Lost Legacy came out.

Granted, this sequel doesn't ruin what came before, instead shifting focus to Chloe and former villain Nadine going on their own adventure. But it is funny that Naughty Dog just had to get one last, albeit much shorter, Uncharted game out of their system before moving on.
