10 Sequel-Proof Video Game Endings (That Got Sequels Anyway)

6. Jak 3

Yakuza 6
Naughty Dog

Well hello again, Naughty Dog.

The Jak trilogy holds a special place in the hearts of an entire generation of PlayStation nerds, your scribe very much included. However, calling it a "trilogy" is a bit of a white lie, because there were two sequels after Jak 3 wrapped everything up.

Jak 3 tied up almost every loose end, while leaving the occasional mystery or detail that doesn't make sense for another studio to run with. After that, in true PlayStation mascot fashion, they rounded out the franchise with a sick-ass kart racer, then a PSP spinoff after that, and then let the franchise fall by the wayside for another studio to pick up.

After Jak X, there were two more games. One is the underrated PSP gem, Daxter, which doesn't count, as it takes place during Jak 2. The other is Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, the final nail in the coffin for the franchise. Once intended as a PSP game like Daxter, Lost Frontier was pushed out onto the PS2 at the end of its lifespan with all the pomp and circumstance of... well, of a developer who knew they'd made a turkey,

Lost Frontier just flat out didn't work, and was received accordingly, thus ending the Jak and Daxter franchise once and for all. Well, at least until someone lets Tom Holland out of their sight again.
