In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link must square off against a shadowy doppelgänger while in everyone's favourite level, The Water Temple. Now, since sub-bosses up until this point haven't been much trouble, you assume Dark Link will be a pushover.

However, many players believe this insidious clone is the hardest enemy in the game. Because DL mirrors your movements, he cancels out every attack with ease. Japanese players complained about Dark Link so much, Nintendo toned down the malevolent double's difficulty when Ocarina of Time was released in the West.

Even though Dark Link pulls no punches, he's totally fair. Firstly, he's the only enemy whose health is level with yours. Whether your health is composed of three hearts or ten, your evil ersatz will have the same amount.

Also, he's only tricky if you spam him with the Master Sword. If you use the Megaton Hammer, the Shield, or the Deku Nuts, you'll have more variety in battle. If you have enough magic, you can repeatedly summon Din's Fire, which Dark Link can't block. Despite the fact there are many methods to thwart Dark Link, he's still one of the most hated bosses in the franchise.
