9. Questionable Contract - The Elder Scrolls Online

This is the only quest on this list from ESO but not the only Elder Scrolls entry because if there’s one other studio that knows how to mess your day up with a truly twisted quest it’s Bethesda.

Questionable Contract involved a mage who has been brought on to help a village expand their beehives by clearing the forest. Which, I know, doesn’t sound all that dramatic, bear with me. See, the village are stoked for the help but they aren’t a big fan of mages so in a totally rational move they kidnap the guy’s wife and hold her hostage so that just in case he fails at the task they have retribution. Will they kill him? Will they kill the wife? Oh no, these crazy bastards are going to make him eat his wife as punishment. Turns out there’s a Daedric twist in there messing things up even more and you need to get to the bottom of it before things really unravel.

Of course, you show up and save the day being the hero that you are but the whole thing is really touch and go for a bit there.
