Let me tell you about the story of the wizard Inwold, another pretty bloody unfortunate mage in the Elder Scrolls universe if we’re being honest.

In a side quest aptly named The Sad Sorcerer, Inwold finds himself in a bit of a pickle having been taken prisoner by his own magical creations. When you rock up they’ve forced him to wear a funny hat and a skirt which is pretty entertaining, but then you find out one of his spells failed catastrophically and killed all his smuggler crew friends which is less entertaining. Worse still, his scamp creations have been force feeding him soup made out of his dead friends so that’s really, really bad.

Even if you get him out of there you can’t make up for the horrors he’s already experienced. You can let him keep his skirt and hat though which seems like the least you can do.
