4. Overlord - Mass Effect 2

The Mass Effect trilogy has plenty of stand out DLCs and it's probably for that reason alone that the incredible Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2 really isn’t discussed enough. While it’s worth pointing out this content does some fairly awkward and borderline offensive things with its representation of autism, it’s still a really fascinating story. Essentially the DLC stars David Archer, a mathematical genius who you discover is the unwilling mind behind the Overlord VI who has been wreaking havoc across the planet.

Unwilling as in his own brother has physically hooked David up to the machines to communicate with the geth and yes, it looks exactly as gross as you think.

It’s one of the most arresting images in all of Mass Effect and while saving David from his predicament and psychotic brother is a no-brainer, the psychological torment of exploring the station and horrifying visuals are impossible to shake. As a small mercy, you can send David to Grissom Academy at the end of the quest and he pops up again in Mass Effect 3 so that’s nice.
