10 Settings Assassin's Creed Could Go To Next

7. 1400s Romania

Romania in this period is a far more specific setting than some of the other entries on this list, and that comes more from the fact that it features a great villain who could fit right into the franchise. Vlad the Impaler was a genuinely horrifying leader who revelled in maliciousness and was even the inspiration behind the character of Dracula.

While a lot of the stories about the three time Voivode of Wallachia are exaggerated, there is still a legacy here that could be taken advantage of. It's not like Ubisoft have always relied on historical accuracy in the Assassin's Creed titles anyway.

Although Vlad would be the major reason to explore this period, the location itself was still incredibly full of personality and history. The country of Wallachia - as it was known at the time - was at odds with the Ottoman Turks, and there were plenty of political intrigues to delve into.

Vlad has even had a small appearance in Assassin's Creed Revelations where he was ousted as a member of the Templar Order and can be seen as a corpse in the game. Why not take it even further and explore the character while he was alive?
