10 Severely Underrated Star Wars Games You Must Play

10. Star Wars: Starfighter

Along with the lightsaber fights, the other part of Star Wars that everybody wants to be a part of is the awesome space battles. Fortunately, a lot of game developers recognised that €“ including LucasArts, whose first foray into the PS2 market was this little gem. Starfighter puts you in the shoes of three different pilots, forming an unlikely alliance in order to prevent the planet of Naboo falling into the hands of the Trade Federation. The game itself plays like something you might find at an arcade inside a pre-built cockpit. You pilot one of several different spacecraft, each of which has a couple of different weapons along with a basic HUD pointing you to your next target, and start blowing enemy ships up. There are other objectives too, like defending a shield generator or blowing up an enemy transmitter €“ but mainly you€™ll be shooting and blowing up enemy ships, which is exactly what we want to do. The controls are a little unintuitive at first, but not so much of a problem to be an inconvenience once you€™ve got the hang of it. The only other niggle is the targeting system, which doesn€™t really let you prioritise targets since it only cycles through them. However, if you can get past those slight annoyances, Starfighter is well worth playing €“ a decent story, immersive gameplay and a real sense of feeling like a starcraft pilot.
