10 Smartest Horror Video Game Decisions
1. Blair Witch (2019) – Avoid The Carved Figurines
The Blair Witch franchise has gained a new lease of life recently, seeing a surprise 3rd entry back in 2016 after production was kept secret. Produced by Lionsgate, they’ve begun branching into games developing and alongside John Wick, Blair Witch also gained a new adaptation last year from Bloober Team.
Taking place two years after Blair Witch Project, it followed former police officer Ellis Lynch and his canine companion Bullet, searching across Black Hills Forest for a missing boy, Peter Shannon.
As you progress, you’ll notice carved figurines scattered across Black Hills. They seem out of place but, being one of gaming’s oldest conventions, many would naturally grab these collectables without second thought.
But considering this takes place after Mike, Heather and Josh’s disappearance, Ellis would be smart to take caution throughout his search. How you handle this investigation determines his fate, factoring in how you approach enemies and destructible totems too.
Picking these up figurines leads to a bad ending, seeing Ellis survives but becomes imprisoned within the Witch’s cycle. If Ellis remains cautious by leaving them, he breaks free of her curse but tragically dies in the process.
It’s a case of "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain” but at the least, this ending stops you becoming her pawn.
