10. 18 QUINTILLION Planets To Explore - No Man's Sky

Yes, you read that right. Over 18 QUINTILLION planets are supposedly available to be explored in this procedurally-generated in-game universe, each with their own look and wildlife. This absolutely massive (and that's putting it mildly) playground starts with you, your ship and a survival suit. It is through a series of upgrades to your ship's hyperspace jump engines that you proceed to explore further and further into the great unknowns of the universe. Upon every planet, there are resources and wildlife to witness and even harvest, although there are potential enemies called Sentinels that may come after you, if you dare harm too many lifeforms or drain too many resources at once. For every planet discovered, as well as every kind of wildlife and fauna seen, the information gets shared to The Atlas, an in-game database that is then shared with other players. You can even name your discoveries whatever you like (although at this point I'm unsure if the game will detect naughty words for those with dirty minds). While you find yourself exploring the universe, you're welcome to engage in peaceful or hostile ways towards all those you come across. This is a constantly shared universe, so chances are, there will be plenty of other players that you can fight against, whether it be on ground or in space battles. To combat these hostile forces, you have weaponry in both your ship, as well as on foot. Hello Games' ambitious title is a game so full of content, the developers themselves admit that they won't be able to fully complete it "in their lifetimes."
