10 Spider-Man Comic Arcs That Would Make Incredible Video Games
7. The Gauntlet
Not a specific story, as such, The Gauntlet represents a section of 20-odd issues of Amazing Spider-Man in which Peter Parker is beset on every side of both of his lives. Struggling to find work in his civilian life and facing off against enemies including Rhino, Sandman and even Juggernaut, there seems to be absolutely no let-up in sight. And you thought your life was hard?! What would make this such a good game is that it doesn't rely heavily on the strength of one main plot point or story to carry it through the 20+ hours that gamers expect from a good campaign. The various enemies that are picking these moments to take on their longtime adversary could be introduced in a chaptered approach as the intensity grows. A game may not be able to capture the personal stakes in this part of Peter's life, but there are still plenty of effective emotional beats in Spidey's story here. I absolutely implore anyone who hasn't read the Rhino issues of The Gauntlet do so immediately - you won't be disappointed!
