10 Star Trek Easter Eggs & References In Starfield

This Starfield mission is insane… utterly brilliant, but insane. In a nutshell, you have to travel halfway across the settled systems to discover the mystery behind a society of clones of historical figures in order to (hopefully) recruit an ersatz Amelia Earhart to your crew. Meeting Earhart on a distant planet in the future is a very familiar concept for Trek fans — only in Voyager, it was alien abduction and the deep freeze for the pioneering 20th century pilot whose disappearance still fascinates today.

'OPERATION STARSEED' is the name of the mission, and a genetically engineered version of Genghis KHAN is central to the story. That's about as great a nod to Space Seed, The Wrath of Khan, and The Savage Curtain as you can get.

You also meet the doppelganger of Franklin D. Roosevelt (not Lincoln, sorry) before stumbling out the module to find Wyatt Earp (or is he?) of O.K. Corral fame/infamy — the historical setting for Spectre of the Gun. All of this takes place in the star system 'Charybdis,' which, Greek mythology aside, was the name of the NASA shuttle in The Royale.

Oh, and, at one point, you also have to board a ship called 'the Beagle' — Darwin's vessel or Archer's dog, you decide!
