Starfield is an impressive game on many levels — from its captivating main storyline to the sheer number of planets and places you can visit. Kris and I have racked up quite the number of hours of gameplay by now and barely scratched the surface. Perhaps up there with the coolest aspects of the game is the fact that you can loot pretty much EVERYTHING (although be careful you don't die of exhaustion on your over-encumbered trek back to your ship).

In the midst of grabbing all in sight and picking locks and pockets (morality goes out the airlock when you need the credits), we stumbled across a miscellaneous item that bears a striking resemblance to the Ceti eel, terrifyingly introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Starfield's 'eargrubs' are (we assume!) dead, presented either in a pentagonal display or — my personal favourite — a sand-filled paperweight souvenir.

We reckon at TrekCulture Towers that they also look like the bluegills/butt bugs because of their colouring, but the 'ear' in 'eargrub' seems to point directly at the fate of poor Chekov and Captain Terrell. This time, we're definitely not on Ceti Alpha VI or V, but Starfield's nod to the Reliant duo is hard to miss, especially if it's now staring at you from your inventory.
