10 Strongest Non-Boss Enemies In The Super Mario Franchise

8. Heave-Ho

There is a very irritating enemy in Super Mario 64 called Chuckya. This giant purple bob-omb picks Mario up and hurls away him away, usually forcing him to tumble off a cliff or to his death. As annoying as Chuckya is, he can be killed.

However, there is another goon that does the same thing except he's invincible. In the levels, Wet-Dry World and Tick Tock Clock, several wind-up toys called Heave-Hos flip Mario around if he steps on their platform. As frustrating as Chuckya is, you can simply avoid him. Heave-Ho, however, is required to reach the higher platforms of the level, meaning you HAVE to let him heave you about.

If you are facing the wrong way, Heave-Ho can fling you downward, causing you to waste time and lose health. If you are already at low health, being flung by Heave-Ho can kill you. One of the most frustrating moments in this entire game is when you are approaching a Power Star and a Heave-Ho appears out of nowhere and hurls you allllllllll the way back to the start.
