10 Stupid Arguments About Grand Theft Auto That Make No Sense

8. The Series Is Getting Worse

The Argument: Though most agree that the release of GTA III was a ground-breaking leap forward for the series, since GTA IV in particular a certain quarter of fans have argued that the series isn't as fun or as ambitious as it once was. With GTA IV's reduced sense of scale and GTA V's relatively familiar storyline, are things really sliding downhill as fans await news on GTA VI? Why It Makes No Sense: While GTA IV's lack of features was a tad underwhelming following the brilliance of San Andreas, it certainly wasn't a major step backwards, and GTA V definitely wasn't either. The absurd technological leap graphically combined with added online features and the character-switching mechanic for GTA V in particular continued to demonstrate Rockstar's ridiculous ambitiousness with constantly moving the series forward in exciting new directions. The sorts of fans who criticise GTA IV and V while championing the earlier PS2 games are proof of the dangerous power of nostalgia. Go back and play those games again after playing GTA V especially and the poor save mechanics and dodgy combat do make them something of a chore to get through, fun though they still are.
