10 Surprisingly Great Multiplayer Modes In Single-Player Games
4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The Uncharted series is one of the greatest in single-player gaming. With Uncharted 2 however, developer Naughty Dog introduced a fun multiplayer mode that kept players engaged long beyond the credits.
The team improved upon that formula with Uncharted 3 but it wasn't until A Thief's End that it felt like the Dog truly understood what made for great multiplayer; well-designed maps, fast gameplay, plenty of customisation, and good matchmaking - and we're not talking about Drake and Elena.
Uncharted 4 was the first time, for that series, that it felt like Naughty Dog really spent time crafting the multiplayer, as opposed to just adding it in as an afterthought. This much was driven home when the team supported the multiplayer with content drops for a year post-release. The addition of funky hats, and quality emotes were great, but the moment-to-moment gameplay was the real star of the show. And, in particular, the rope! You should jump back into Uncharted 4 and see how the industry's leading developer tackled multiplayer.
