7. Taras Nabad - Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal is a mostly terrific sequel to 2016's glorious reboot, though the chaotic fun slows to a crawl in one of the game's later levels, the famously divisive Taras Nabad.

Taras Nabad is one of the toughest levels in the game and also one of the longest, because in addition to the expected arena battles - which will certainly test the mettle of players alone - there's a series of irritating puzzles to deal with and, yes, the one thing everyone hates: water sections.

Nobody asked for swimming in a Doom game, while the tricky battles against the Archeville and Marauder are more often frustrating than fun, especially on higher difficulties.

Though you can't really fault id Software for trying to do something different, it overall feels out-of-step with the rest of the game and what most fans actually want out of a Doom level. This ain't it, chief.
