Oh, been murdering absolutely everything in sight as you progress through the jungles of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater have we?

If you had done that, oh boy, were you in for a surprise when you encountered one of the series' most memorable characters, The Sorrow.

The Sorrow is a dead spirit medium and a former member of the Cobra Unit. Despite being dead, he's still very much present in Metal Gear Solid 3. He appears regularly in cutscenes for a split second, and about halfway through the campaign, he brings Snake directly into his world.

The MGS series is no stranger to strangeness, but this scene, and the way The Sorrow makes you relive every time you've killed so far - both humans and animals - is truly unsettling stuff.

Just to add a further edge to how he makes you feel scared, The Sorrow will actually kill Snake as he reaches the end of the twisted river where dead bodies are floating towards you. You have to then take a revival pill to wake Snake up.

Of course if you're doing a no-kill playthrough, it's not quite as scary. Kojima punishes those who kill for sport, apparently!
